You can’t really start a ‘Where’s Nico’ blog without mentioning who Nico is. Nico is a nine pound chihuahua made up of equal four and a half pound slabs of heart and mischievousness. He was born on September 1, 2022 and joined our family that November 20th.

We realize a lot of chihuahuas have a reputation for being kind of yippy and mean, but Nico considers every person he meets to be a new best friend. He’s been a great addition to our little household!

The two of us both enjoy cooking, and Nico has definitely reaped the benefits of that hobby. We do leave kibble out for him, but most of his diet consists of small plates of whatever we’re enjoying (removing the onions, garlic and whatever else may be harmful, of course).

Another love of ours is camping. Prior to getting Nico, the two of us had visited over twenty five national parks together just in the previous three years.

In July 2023, we had an opportunity to see if that would be of interest to Nico too, and I’m glad to say he loved it! We took Nico to New Mexico, where he loved scampering up the rocky trails ahead of us (and occasionally looking back at us in judgement). He was born to be a nine pound mountain dog!
And that’s good, because as we approach 2024, we have plans to take Nico on a six month trip through open land across the southwest and west coast.
Given the number of friends Nico has made over the past year, and the plans we have for him in 2024, we thought a ‘Where’s Nico’ site may be a good way for his friends to follow along on his adventures!
